FujiFilm X-T1 + Venus Laowa 60mm f/2.8 Ultra-Macro Lens – Method Or Madness?
I’ve read much about this lens. 97% of what I read was utter twaddle, written by internet theorists and keyboard professors. The real experts, those who actually owned and used this lens for a consistent period of time have purred like pussycats, growled like dogs and then kept the lens and kept shooting! I’ve decided to do the same. Many years ago in Sweden, a friend said to me: “Mate, you used to race Moto-X bikes! You’ve still got it in you, let’s do some enduro!” A couple of days later I made an appointment to view a race tuned Yamaha YZ250. I knew it was well beyond what I’d ever raced but I was excited. That darn thing almost killed me over the next few weeks but boy did I learn a new style of riding! Today I received my copy of the Venus Laowa 60mm f/2.8 Ultra-Macro. I have the exact same feelings of trepidation going into this one as I did that enduro bike. It’s going to cause me great frustration, even bodily injury but the promised results should be well worth it! I’ll be reviewing this lens over the coming weeks whilst simultaneously (hopefully) learning to at least keep up with it. If you’re UK based then the distributor here is UK-Digital.
